The Cherry Valley Swim Club swim club offers a competitive swim team for children who are between the ages of 5 and 18 (the “swimming age” for the summer is the child’s age on June 15). The swim team is a great way for kids to learn a new sport and get some exercise while both swimmers and families become more involved in the swim club. While there is no competitive experience necessary, and all ability levels (from novices through highly competitive swimmers) are welcome, all new team members should be able to swim at least a full length of the pool. If you are unsure, have your child come to practice the first week for an evaluation by the coaches.

Coaching Staff:

Head Coach:  We are very excited to announce that Christie Robertson will be leading the team this summer as our head coach!  Coach Christie has spent the better part of the last decade as the head coach for the Cherry Hill West boys swim team and was a former coach at Kingston Estates Swim Club.  Additionally, Christie will be a familiar face to many of our swimmers as she currently is a guidance counselor at West and served formerly at both Kilmer and Thomas Paine.  Please welcome Coach Christie when you see her!

Assistant Coaches:  We are also pleased to welcome back new Cherry Valley alums David Lawton and Rayna Lymper as assistant coaches.  David and Rayna were both graduating Cherry Valley swimmers and first-year assistant coaches during the 2022 season!

After-School Practices:

Our daily afternoon practices will begin on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Practices will be weekdays after school according to the following:

Ages 13-14, 15-18  —  3:30 until 4:30.

Ages 9-10, 11-12 —   4:30 until 5:30.

Ages 8 and under  —  5:30 until 6:15.

Swimmers should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of practice so they are ready to swim at the noted time.  If you have a question or conflict regarding practice times, feel free to reach out to one of the coaches. Please have your child ready to swim at practice (bathing suit, goggles, swim cap, etc.).  Additionally, please have your swimmer bring sneakers and appropriate clothing for “dryland” exercises (which may occur if the weather or pool water is cooler).

Morning Practices:

Tentatively, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, we will start our morning practice schedule.  Following will be the practice times for the remainder of the season (as noted above, swimmers should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time).

Ages 8 and under —    8:30 – 9:30

Ages 9-10, 11-12 —    9:30 – 10:30

Ages 13-14, 15-18  — 10:30 – 11:45
